Traditional vs. Infrared Sauna: How Do They Heat Differently?
Traditional and infrared saunas create heat in different ways.
A traditional sauna uses a sauna heater to warm the air and sauna stones, raising the entire cabin to a higher temperature for the classic hot-sauna experience.
An infrared sauna uses infrared emitters, such as carbon fiber or quartz heaters, to deliver radiant heat. Because the heat is transferred differently, the sauna can operate at a lower ambient temperature than a traditional sauna.
The key difference is therefore the heating method; traditional saunas primarily heat the surrounding air, while infrared saunas use radiant heat from dedicated infrared heaters.
